Questions about three places
First trip to SF in June. Our minds are far from made up, but we've had strong recommendations on a few places -- somewhat eclectic, I realize, but we'll have lunch and dinner three days and are really looking for a wide range of experiences. Would really appreciate feedback on these possibilities -- and of course other suggestions! Thanks in advance . . .
Quince
The Stinking Rose
Tyler Florence's new place -- or places. I didn't realize there were two.

Yes to Quince, a strong no to Stinking Rose, and I will defer to others regarding the Tyler Florence places, although I have heard good things from friends about Wayfare Tavern.
In lieu of Stinking Rose, perhaps Sotto Mare in North Beach for Cioppino?

Quince - yes. Stinking Rose - pass. If you want that neighborhood (North Beach), Rose Pistola is a better option.
For other great SF dinner suggestions (if you're willing to spend): Kokkari, NOPA, Flour +Water, Farallon, Garibaldi's, Spruce, Slated Door, Frances, Maverick & Locanda are all lovely spots.
For low end in-and-out deliciousness, La Taqueria and Yamo.
For lunches/brunches: Mama's, Town's End, Rose's Cafe, Roam or Bar Tartine.
For an interesting/unique experience, try Minako or Kiss Seafood.

If you think most Italian food isn't French enough, Quince is one of the two best Italian restaurants in SF.
Wayfare Tavern is good, sort of a modern twist on classic San Francisco cuisine dating from the 1930s or even earlier. Kind of expensive, hard to get a reservation, huge portions. Comstock Saloon is doing something along the same lines but lower-key.
The Stinking Rose is a tourist trap.
