CHEAP but GOOD eats in Rome

Hi there,

Will be traveling to Rome in a few weeks, looking for places to eat that are reasonably priced (can't afford to spend 30euros per meal!) but also offer good quality. Cafes/lunch spots/restaurants - all suggestions welcomed!

side streets in the old city (pantheon and piazza navona) and Trastevere are chock full of what you want.

Look seven places down on this string and find your answer.

A lot of inexpensive places have been talked about on this site, so make sure you hunt around.
But certainly stop by some of the farmers' markets if you have time.
Some places to get more than just a sandwich or pizza:
Volpetti Piu: the tavola calda next to Volpetti
Rosticceri': The tavola calda, with two locations owned by the same chef that owns La Rosetta. Not cheap, but certainly a great deal for high quality food.
        Da Benito, Via dei Falegname
        Enoteca Corsi, Via del Gesu
For a very inexpensive, but newer type place, try Conter, in Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano. Very cute place with pagnotelle, stuffed rolls. Hard to describe, but very good.
        Hope this helps!

I would second Volpetti Piu and would add Trapezzini in Testaccio. I would also mention that any of the great pizzerias is a cheap but totally enjoyable meal. My favorite is Nuovo Mundo (Testaccio)
          and Pizzeria Evo (Trastevere)
