10th Wedding anniversary, need to score a table in a week! *Please help*!
No, I did not wait until the last minute- I have had reservations at a place for months- a place which- when my wife found out about- she nixed.
Anyway, any recommendations for a cute, not-super-expensive place with good food and a pretty room where we could actually score a table on what is admittedly very short notice? I know you're not maitre'Ds, so you can't guarantee anything- but at this point I'll take any and all suggestions and then do the legwork.....
Our budget is around $300 total (including everything), so we're obviously not looking for Brooklyn Fare (and couldn't score a table there for next Friday if we tried...).
Just hoping for someplace sweet, with good food and nice service. We're easy as far as cuisine goes- and neighborhood as well.
Locanda? Would that work? Or Kif? Just throwing those two out there because they seem about what we're looking for (I'm guessing, b/c we've never been to either and they both seem a bit romantic and cool and would fit within our budget.
I had Applewood picked out- but since we'd been there once before and she wasn't into it.
Anyway, I appreciate any help you people can offer with regards to this matter.

re: girldesigner
Saul is wonderful. Food is very good. Staff is knowledgable and helpful. Its one of the few places in Brooklyn with a Michelin star so its a nice combination of good atmosphere and food. Have had plenty of birthday and other celebratory dinners there.

I think your answer is Convivium Osteria (to both couples looking for a place to celebrate). Very romantic, excellent food, definitely within your price range. Also readily accessible by public transportation. There are tables available for next Friday and Saturday evenings--you can book on OpenTable (definitely another plus in my book!). My preference is to sit in the wine cellar.
It's where my husband and I go just about every year for our anniversary (and we're ahead of you by quite a few years!)

Convivium is a great choice but I'd also throw out Locanda Vini E Olii. Great food, unexpected for it's location, and ultra-charming interior.
You'll have no problem getting a table and don't be worried if you show at 7 and it's dessert. The place will be packed by 8:30. (So maybe make a later reservation.)
You'd likely want to take a car service each way but it will come in WAY under $300 so you'll still be on budget (I can't think of anywhere in Brooklyn to spend $300 for two other than Brooklyn Fare and the tasting menu Roberta's)
