Best Westchester Cocktails in White Plains

Westchester County is a wasteland for cocktails, but now there is an oasis, the Mix @ the Crowne Plaza Hotel in White Plains with Jake Sher as head bartender, surrounded by a staff of spirits and cocktail geeks hidden under plain clothes. Too bad the clientele is so uneducated. If you want a great cocktail, this is the place to go.

Really. I've been there a couple of times to meet someone for a drink and the place is always empty.

I was there at 11pm last night and the place was packed. Most people weren't the fine cocktail type of crowd, but for those in the know, the cocktails are excellent. Jake used to work at Beekman Bar & Books in NYC, and is known for his great cocktails and knowledge of spirits. I walked in and the first thing he said to me was, "You need a Sazerac." I put myself in his hands for the rest of the night, and never ordered a thing. It was one great cocktail after another, all the rest of his creation. Some he had designed before, some on the spot.

thanks for the information. the times that i was there was early in the evening. didn't realize they got a late night crowd. was it a young crowd or over 30?

I don't think they have developed a following yet. Jake just started yesterday as the new head bartender. The folks there were staying at the hotel. Mixed crowd.

A Sazerac sounds good, any other classic cocktails done well? So frustrating to get a blank stare from a bartender when you ask for something like a negroni or Manhattan.

How are the prices?
