Best chocolate dessert?

Hi,
For my wife's birthday we are going to do her favorite thing: go out for just appetizers and dessert. She loves rich dark chocolate, so where should we go for the best chocolate dessert. (we can drive anywhere in the valley).

Best that I can recall was Chef Bernie's flourless chocolate cake at Cowboy Ciao. He used a bit of chili pepper in it, and it was fantastic. Have no idea if Peter retained it, or not.

I might send you to one of the places who wisely tapped Tracey Dempsey for their chocolate desserts: Cowboy Ciao, for the original spicy chipotle chocolate pot de creme; or Citizen Public House, for the Jameson-espresso pot de creme. I am rarely the one who chooses chocolate desserts, preferring something lighter, but I make the exception in her case. Cowboy Ciao likes to serve the pot de creme very cold, but I prefer it with the chill taken off. I'd have them put it on the table and then linger over a drink. Either place is going to do you right by appetizers and cocktails, too.

Funny, I made a reservation at The House at Secret Garden. then I read your response about Tracey Dempsey, who is doing their desserts. sounds like a good oman to me.

"for the original spicy chipotle chocolate pot de creme" sounds like a few similarities to the flourless chocolate cake from there too.

Do not recall having this dish, but can correct that quickly.
