Honey Badger Cafe Opens in Alhambra

I'm not particularly into desserts, but the newly opened Honey Badger Cafe at 11 W. Main St. in Alhambra does have a few interesting items. They have home made ice cream in flavors including taro and durian, as well as floats and tea drinks. They also have a short, actually very short, food menu. It only consists of three sandwich choices--chicken cilantro, portobello, and pork. A very nice Taiwanese lady seems to be running the place, so drop in and say hi to her.

  1. It's funny, or maybe sad, but if iBrowse Cafe (the former occupant at that location) couldn't survive with the escalating rents as part of "Revitalize Downtown Alhambra" ... I'm not sure how Honey Badger will make it with a Coldstone Creamery and BlueCherry Yogurt down the street, as well as a Cha For Tea directly across from it and Lovebirds around a kitty-corner -- all of whom are competitors.

    Good luck to them nonetheless.

not to mention Fosselman's that already does a delicious taro ice cream. I'll be sure to check it out this weekend.

Yes, but Fosselman's isn't really within walking distance. All the others are.

Rents would explain the closure of Raymond's Fine Dining, f.k.a. Hop Woo, on the corner of Garfield and Main. This is a heartbreaker for me since while not a great restaurant, they made my single favorite dish in the SGV. The sign on the door proclaims that the site will soon host an internationally famous restaurant franchise. Sounded intriguing until I realized they could easily be talking about McDonald's.
