Walked into Bass River Mercantile in Yarmouth, MA and found Bonomo's Turkish Taffy, Beeman's gum and assorted items from my childhood. What retro foods do you find now and love?
Valomilk... Economy Candy in NYC has these and I absolutely love them.
One-stop shopping for all of teh above:
Continuing the confections theme ... Bit O Honey.
I've always loved Bit O Honey, and so did mom. Guess what inevitably disappeared from my Hallowee'en stash? Oh well, at least she left the kitkats and mini bindles of pop rocks alone.
I used to stuff like four or five of them in my mouth at one time. It was a-w-e-s-o-m-e.
Every now and again I stumble over Teaberry gum, and it's Oh Happy Day when I do. I've bought entire cases and hoarded it. Tip: old gum is not necessarily good gum.
I love BlackJack gum. The flavor only lasts about 15 seconds, and then it leaves a wicked nasty taste in your mouth, but it is delicious while it lasts!
Oh my gosh! I love Teaberry gum! Oh happy day, indeed. I haven't seen it in ages...I need to keep a sharper eye out.
