North Coasters: Wheerrre's Rolf?

Any news of Rolf, previous owner of cafe near Orrick? Would love to know if he or his talented sons are still cooking wonderful meals anywhere in the North Coast area. I believe it was mentioned he was at the McKinleyville airport some years back (2005).

Thanks

A post to this thread from 2005 says "his wife owns and operates the Sand Castle Gallery and Hair Salon in the Trinidad shopping center."

Beefeater added to the followings thread that "There is a Rolf's Park Cafe & Motel in Trinidad, 265 Idlewood Ln, Trinidad, CA 95570."

I plugged the address provided into Google Maps and the location north of town in a sparsely populated area didn't appear all that promising, but who knows?

I think that's the old location, but google maps has the location wrong ("NO!"...) as they often do . It was on the other side of the highway w/in the State Park boundary, in about that location. Trinidad is the nearest town, or perhaps that was where the phone exchnge was. Typically the resto was listed as being associated with Orrick.

I did see the reference to his wife's business. I wonder if anyone at the Eureka newspaper would know. May do some research. A chef that good is too good to lose track of, but then if he was still working, you'd think we'd hear about it. I guess things change...

Rolf seems to have dissappeared into the forests without a trace. He used to buy some baked goods from a bakery in Eureka, but find no trace of it either. The only place I can think of to look is within the chef/cooking community on the north coast. Anyone know any names or have connections? PB, how did you trace him to the McKinleyville Airport?

Oh Gawd, that was in the days before Google, iirc, we followed rumor after rumor until we finally ran across some first hand info. It was so sad that we only had time for one lunch at the airport on our way out of town.

Haven't seen anything in the local press for several years.
