Pittsburgh

I'll be in downtown Pittsburgh next week, for just a few hours (from 8 till 11); I assume there's still nothing at all kosher outside Squirrel Hill, so I'll be bringing my own food. Any suggestions for what to do for a few hours downtown at night? (I'm thinking go up the incline and catch the view from Mt Washington; any better ideas? And wouldn't it be great if there *was* something kosher up top there?)

I don't keep kosher, but generally speaking I think you'll have a good bit of luck looking around squirrel hill as many of the residents of that area do.

Yes, I know about Milky Way, on Murray Ave., which last time I was in P'bgh was the *only* kosher eatery in town. I was asking whether something had opened closer to downtown (and that might perhaps be open after 8). Not because I expected there to be one; but just in case there was, I didn't want to find out about it *after* my trip.

I just confirm with a friend in Squirrel Hill (who does keep kosher). No options down-town.

There's a kosher dairy place that's an offshoot of the one in Squirrel Hill right in the middle of Oakland, where Pitt is.

Interesting. Shamash.org/kosher doesn't list it yet; would you care to add it? Or give a URL where we can find out details?

Lot of cheap beer not too far from downtown in Oakland near the Universities. Other than that not much...

          ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Huh?

I think the East Liberty section is getting hip. I personally loved going to the Heinz Museum, but all the other museums are good too.

Oakland is most of the way to Squirrel Hill.

Can't help you with downtown activities, but on my visits to the area, Murray Ave Kosher delivered delicious meals.
