Eglinton Grand - HELP????

Hi everyone,

We are JUST about to pull the trigger on a wedding venue and EG is our number one target (ok that analogy was a little cheesy) for a Spring Wedding 2012. I think I am getting cold feet so I am looking for a little reassurance that we are making the right decision!

For the couples who are planning to have their weddings in 2011 at EG how has the planning process been thus far?

If you have had your wedding at the EG, a few questions for you:

1) How long did you take for pictures - I am thinking 1.5 hrs around the area

2) Any suggestions on Hors D'oeuvres?

3) Meal - it seems like the Grand or Mediterranean is the way to go - any suggestions?

I am hoping that once we get the venue sorted everything else will fall into place! Fingers Crossed!

Thanks so much,

BrideGirl

don't mean to be a spoiler, but good friends of ours recently attended a wedding there and really weren't impressed with the food. we almost booked it ourselves a few years ago, and changed our mind when we heard similar comments from other friends.
i don't know which menu it was.

Had my WORST wedding banquet meal ever there!! Everything was overcooked! Be they pasta, chicken, beef...etc. The latter, tasteless and tough! Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!!!!

We looked at EG when planning our wedding and weren't impressed. Not very old-person friendly, limited washrooms. The menus weren't very impressive either. But marquee was cute and it was a pretty space for a small group.

I might be too late in responding -- but if you like the feel of the Grand, you may also want to check out the Capitol Event Theatre. It's another theatre, and it's nearby at Yonge & Castlefield (just north of Eglinton). We had our wedding there last month and the food was AMAZING. There is a wide selection to choose from - we chose 2 different entrees, and at our wedding, the serving staff went around to each table and each guest got to order from a choice of the 2 menu options. Very classy! We couldn't believe the number of people who raved about the food afterwards. The venue is so gorgeous too. I'd be happy to answer any questions about our experience!

Hi there, I recently attended a wedding at the Grand, overall it went very well. The staff was very accomodating and professional. Food was great, my friend had the mediterranean theme. The bride and groom were happy, perhaps i will ask my friend (the bride)to post her opinion first hand, but from a guests perspective, I was very impressed to attend.

I too am probably too late in responding to your post. We booked our wedding for EG for this summer. We are paying the extra for the best of everything, food, bar, lighting, keeping both bars open all night, etc etc. You get what you pay for here. The old reviews reflect the old chef/staff....things have changed alot since 2010/11. We have had tastings and attended 2 of the open houses here and we are happy and very excited! I know we will be very pleased. Staff is also awesome to work with!
