I have jury duty on Friday and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for interesting lunch places near the courthouse?

  1. I would walk to Rosina Gourmet, great sandwiches. I'm a huge fan of the pesto chicken salad.

Agree about Rosina Gourmet. Also recommend Fresh Farms on Redwood and South right across from the Au Bon Pain.

Note that there are 2 Rosina Gourmets. The one shown in the map above is the wrong one for jury duty. You want the one in the back of the building at 300 E. Lombard.

Try Cypriana. Greek/Med. food. Gyros, falafel, salads.

Is the Cypriana near light street reopened? It had been closed for a while.

That being said, their falafel is pretty terrible if you ask me.

    2. For me the only good thing about jury duty is lunch. Walk one block west and one block south on St. Paul and there's a halal cart selling delicious chicken and lamb gyros. Sit outside and eat it if the weather is nice. I crave it all the time and only get it when I have jury duty.

I have jury duty tomorrow, and it's supposed to be a nice day. Anyone know if this halal cart is still around, and the exact corner? Any updated recs? Thanks.

It's on the SE corner of St. Paul and Lexington, right outside the entrance of the courthouse and I would bet your $15 stipend that it'll be there!
There's really nothing else up there that compares, IMO. If the cart weren't there for some strange reason, I would go to Sugarbees and get a chicken pot pie.

Suzy's Soba is excellent and in the block immediately south of Courthouse East.

Really? That place is in the top 10 most disgusting restaurants I've ever tried- and I even went back and gave it another shot.

also, if you get chosen, Mekong Delta is within walking distance! Good luck Ellen
