Best DC upscale weekday lunch deal

majmaj4 May 18, 2011 07:03 AM

I will be downtown this Friday, and was looking for a nice upscale lunch. Somewhere where lunch is less expensive than dinner but gives me a chance to try something nice.

Thanks for any tips!

I like the 4 course lunch at Zaytinya for something like $22/person. Very good way to sample the menu at a reasonable price.

Definitely try Equinox. Chef Grey's lunch menu is delicious, but more affordable then the dinner menu. Plus now that it's nice outside, you can sit on the outdoor patio.

Another downtown lunch I have been enjoying lately is Siroc. Their lunch menu is quite affordable and really delicious. I was expecting small portions since the price was a lot less than their dinner menu but the portions (especially the sandwiches) were a nice size. They also have outdoor dining.

Equinox looks great. I was also looking at Oval Room.

I ate there for lunch once and was a little overwhelmed. The food was fine but kind of boring. Equinox is much more seasonal...the menu changes with what is fresh and in season almost every day.

Not in DC, but Metro accessible is the Lickety Split lunch at the Restaurant Eve in Alexandria- which I think is the best deal in town and superb.

Proof and 701 both have excellent lunch deals that include a glass of wine at the bar.

Second the Proof recommendation, and Bibiana does one as well that I've really enjoyed.

If you can get a table, go to Rasika. Might be tough as a walk-in, though.

Failing that, I second Bibiana, it's a very very good place for lunch.
