Cocktail destinations on the South Shore

While I'll take any excuse to get off the SS and into Bos/Camb/Somerville for good eats and drinks, sometimes I'd like to stick closer to home. While we have a few solid eating options down here, I can't think of any real cocktail-centric places to hang out. One of the bartenders at The Scarlet Oak makes a decent gin martini but it's hit-and-miss, plus the bar there gets packed and sort of freaky sometimes.

So, any thoughts or suggestions for craft traditonal or tasefully creative drinks between Plymouth and Quincy? Bonus points for good food, too.

Hate the food in the dining room, love the food at the bar and the drinks are great at Scarlet Oak in Hingham.

Hola in Marshfield has a nice cocktail menu and great tapas style dining!

I hear that the new Rye Tavern at Pinehills is a decent option. Slightly upscale farm to table type place with a variety of cocktails.

That's a new one on me. Will look into it.

The bartenders at Alba in Quincy Center do a very nice job with cocktails. The just changed their menu for the Spring and Summer and have some new items that look good.

I also like the bartending at the Fat Cat. Great food/great drinks. I keep singing their song, and they're still good.
          Enjoy,

This is my first post, and I think it is well worth it to point out the cocktails at Bia Bistro in Cohasset (where I live) are top notch. Also, the drinks last time I was at Tosca (not Tosca Cafe) were excellent. I sat at the bar and had extra dirty vodka martini's at both places, each had their own specialty stuffed olives which makes (or breaks) a dirty martini. Remember to sit at the bar and go out of your comfort zone, both places cant be beat.

Thanks for the reply, Tyger. I've not tried Bia Bistro yet but will be certain to do so.

alba has a nice bar. The food is decent but they could spend more time cleaning.
