What happened to Common Ground?
Hi!
I recently discovered that Common Ground in Dorchester has closed.
Does anyone have any idea why?
I always enjoyed eating that wonderful Hobbit Hole of a restaurant!
That was not an insult to the place, the whole restaurant looked like it was carved in a tree!
As a side question, anyone know what happened to that wonderful furniture?
Thanks!

In the Village proper: Lynn's spa next to Sonny's. Whatever next to China Sky. New Place next to the Supreme Liquors. Very new place where LA Weight lloss was.
Down by 5 Star there are Fantasy nails, Fancy nails and the one across the street that you refer to.
I really hope whoever takes over turns Common Ground into somewhere to eat!

The Twelve Tribes (owners) decided to go in a different direction.
Evidently they own many 'Yellow" delis franchised throughout the country.
They want to stay in the neighborhood, but leasing the space did not appeal to them.
In all of their other ventures, evidently they own the properties.›2 Replies-

re: melodyrose
i believe it was the name of the original restaurant in tennessee where the twelve tribes movement/ communal living thing started. friend from high school was an early adopter in the mid 70's. found the people WAY too cult-like for my liking, subsequently never ate at the restaurant.

Ok. I we ate at the Ledge last night and I drove all the way down Adams instead of taking the Richmond St cut, for which I was yelled at.
The block still looked busy but I didnt see that they were closed.
My guess is... Bad food and creepy atmosphere. They had a rule against seasoning of any type. And, sorry if you liked it, but it gave off a very weird vibe. Particularly for that nabe.
