Hell's kitchen/Theater district help for 7

Howdy All:

I hope you are well.

We are coming to NYC for some business meetings and staying around 49th and Broadway. There will be 7 of us including my boss and my boss's new boss.

Looking for a place that would make a good impression within walking distance with entrees under $40 each. I was thinking maybe Esca or Oceana, but really have no preference.

Just want something that they will all go "Great Choice" wanted to go back to Restaurant 9 to have their beef cheek pot roast again but the boss wants somewhere else.

Can anyone help? Any places have a quiet area for 7 people to eat? We are coming from all over the country.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Best regards, tony

  1. I had a nice pre-theatre meal at La Silhouette (http://la-silhouettenyc.com/) on west 53rd. It is pretty new, but the food was very solid. French/American. Good service. A really dingy block, but a lttile jewel of a restaurant.

(as an after-thought, the menu may be a little limited, so check it out..

    1. I highly recommend Oceana. We have been there several times, and the food has been uniformly superb. Service is pleasant and attentive. Though the space, which has very attractive decor, is large, it does not get too noisy. We've been there with a group of 8 and were seated at an oval table in the rear. You might want to request that.

Thanks, going with Oceana on Tuesday night and requested teh Oval table in the back.

Thinking about Hell's Kitchen Restaurant on Monday as it seems to have a nice menu and would be a fun place to hang out maybe.

We've not been to Hell's Kitchen (the restaurant). However, we have been to Toloache, on 50th, b/t B'way & 8th. The Mexican food there is delicious, and the atmospherics are very pleasant.

Second the Toloache rec. I find it much more exciting than Hell's Kitchen.

      2. We had a great dinner at La Silhouette. Food and service were excellent. A pretty and very civilized experience.
We like Toloache as well but it's a little more lively. A totally different experience.

        1. I agree with all the recs so far. I would also add Ember Room if you want something casual and a bit different one evening. The food is Asian/Barbecue fusion. Really tasty stuff and inexpensive.
