America's Next Top Restaurant canceled

Joanie May 17, 2011 08:08 AM

I was trying to find out if Parenthood (best show on TV along with Friday Night Lights) was coming back and found this handy dandy chart. Sadly V, The Event and Detroit 1-8-7 are all gone and so is ANTR. Not so sadly. Did it really do that much worse than Ramsey's cooking contest?

I'm not sure the show was ever structured to be an every-season thing. The winner of the show launches an actual restaurant business - with three widely scattered locations - with financial backers and everything. That has to be a seriously expensive show to produce. Way more expensive than the typical reality show.

Perhaps more than a typical reality show, but still cheap by TV standards.

You might be right. They may want to see how this first one turns out. Flay etal may lost their shirts/blouse on this. Plus, another series would probably require different investors willing to gamble.

I lost interest. Who even won?

Oh, good. That show sucked, but I felt obligated to watch til the end. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't bother again if it did air.

and in other news, water's wet & the sky is blue...i don't think anyone expected it to be renewed. it certainly doesn't bode well when your viewers can't even get the title right. cracked me up to see that week after week here on CH :)

re: Ramsay's show, do you mean Masterchef? i didn't watch the first season but i was under the impression that it did relatively well...i think the season 2 premiere airs in a couple of weeks.

Yeah I mean Masterchef, I should look up the ratings. I think Kitchen Nightmares doesn't do too well but again, not sure.

What's the title of the show? Didn't even realize I was getting it wrong, haha.

America's Next *Great* Restaurant - or ANGR...which was what i felt over not getting cast for it until i witnessed the total train wreck it turned out to be ;)

all season long people have been substituting "Top" or "Best" for "Great" and it just made me chuckle.

Must be a holdover from my 2 seasons watching the wonderful America's Next Top Model. They're one show who has even more frequent seasons than TC.

that show is STILL on? wow.

the funny thing about ANGR is that regardless of whether you use top, best, or great, the winning restaurant ain't it ;)
