Went to Literati II last week and was very disappointed with the subpar service. I've been several times before and never had an issue but it was unusually bad.

Went for lunch. Place was busy as usual but there were 4 open tables for 2 AND a table for 4. The young hostess seemed totally flustered and told us it would be 5-10 minutes. So we sat outside and watched the tables just sit empty. Eventually we asked what was going on and were told that there were people in front of us. I glanced at her list and saw 2 names in front of us - again, there were 5 tables open and NO ONE ELSE there. Some people showed up and were seated at the 4 and one of the 2s. Finally we were seated while the other 2s remained open?!? I hate when restaurants tell you it will be a while when there are seats open, no reservations, and no one waiting.

Then we sat at our table for 10 minutes before anyone came over. To make matters more annoying, we watched as two tables received their food before we did - tables that were seated 10 minutes+ AFTER us. And lastly, we'd ordered burgers. And the burgers were not cooked as we'd ordered.

I am typically very lenient on service and don't care as long as food is very good. But this was just blatant incompetence, esp. on the hostess' part. Anyone else had an experience like this at Literati?

The food is very good, so I'll still go back but...

Four of us had a uniformly disappointing dinner there last Saturday night. The service was very slow; the waiter kept apologizing, but it didn't help. The food was mediocre, even the sand dabs which I had so enjoyed there before. The caesar salad was bland and generally lifeless. The wine, woefully overpriced.

Welcome to my world. I've had a rude manager and poor service. I guess it trickles down from there. Never understood the hype about the food but to have bad service with it, they're just asking for us to post.
