Late night in Pittsburgh
I'm going to be in Pittsburgh for one night only (!), on Wednesday. By the time I arrive at my hotel, get checked in, and stash my luggage, it's going to be about 11:30 PM. Is there any place besides Primanti's where I can get a great, non-seafood meal? I'll be staying at the Wyndham on Commonwealth, and I'd like it to be close by, if possible.
Thanks!

When does Yo Rita close? Might that be an option? Not sure on a Wednesday. They seem to have a soft-ish close (they only publish an opening time on the web site) so not sure if they'll be there that late during the week. Starting from downtown at 11:30 is tough.
BTW, if you do take a cab, it may help to know that the Wyndham you're talking about (Wyndham Grand, downtown, facing Point State Park for the locals) is the "old Hilton". It was the Hilton for 50-odd years so in getting back it may help to know you want to go back to the old HIlton. ;-) Cabs should know hotel changes but it never hurts to have extra info. For that matter, if you take a cab out to Shadyside you'll have to arrange one back somehow, have them call one for you if you go to Mad Mex, etc.
Indeed, if you're planning to take a cab into town from the airport, and back out, you may want to switch and get a rental car instead. By the time you have a cab into town and a cab back to the airport, you'll have easily covered the cost of a rental for one day, probably even figuring in the cost of parking downtown for the day. Plus if you get the car you could go eat somewhere before going to the hotel. That may allow you to arrive somewhere at around 11 instead of 11:30, could make a difference if you want to go to Salt for example.
Good luck. It's really an early night area downtown so there isn't a ton open on a weeknight for those straggling in that late. I think you should look into a rental car if you haven't already, and if you are, go eat first; the hotel will still be there when you get back. ;-)

Elements isn't open that late, but they might be able to suggest somewhere nearby that is. http://www.elementscuisine.com/

re: MangosSurpriseMe
I googled and googled and googled. The best I've come up with is Mad Mex on S. Highland in Shadyside. You'll have to drive or take a cab, but the kitchen is open 'til 1 am (though I'd definitely call to make sure).

re: k squared
That's nice. I should check that out sometime. And I've sent this link to a friend who's more of a late-nighter than I am.
