Bar dining at Le Bernardin

Read many related topics regarding recommended restaurants for bar dining. But have not seen Le Bernardin mentioned.

Is it possible to eat at the bar there? Do they serve a full menu? Pros/Cons?

Thanks for the help!

I ate there last Wednesday. We honestly walked in off the street just in the off chance that they could accomdate us. They told us they had no tables available but we were more than welcome to sit at the bar. We did and next to me was a gentleman who was writing an article about the restaurant. Eric Ripert came out and talked to him at length and said hello to us. They served the full menu as far as I could tell and the service was outstanding. The food was heavenly (of course).

They make a decent martini and the bar snacks are wonderful.

That's great. Did you go for lunch or dinner? I noticed that the bar only has four seats?

Thank you all for the quick replies!

Discovering the bar only has 4 seats available is a bit disconcerting but we might roll the dice and hope for the best.

The last time I went to Le Bernardin in March, I noticed that the bar was empty when I came in for my 2:00 pm reservation, so maybe a late lunch would work if you plan to walk in.

If it's your first time at the restaurant, don't forget to request the milk chocolate "Egg" pre-dessert, which is not on the menu but served to regulars as well as anyone who asks for it.

We rolled the dice at about 11:45am. Maybe it was meant to be for us. I think it is a chance worth taking if you can't make a reservation. Good luck!

I ate at the bar there one time a few years back. They serve the full menu and I had the tasting menu with the Kobe beef supplement. I was underwhelmed and have not been back.

Gentlemen still need to wear jackets. If you do not have one they may be able to find one for you.

Service was very stiff in my opinion, but I don't know if that's specifically the bar or the restaurant in general as some have mentioned.
