Boca Restaurant and Grille - Waltham
My wife and I went there last Friday, using a Groupon as our teaser; we really thought that the place was great, and we were very happy with both the food and drink. We both ordered the week's special, the Steak Casado (Married), and there was plenty of food. The steak was just right, the sweet platanos were just right, and we really liked the fried pig skin... all very authentic. Two of the owners came over and greeted us, and it was clear that they were genuinely interested in making new customers feel comfortable.
Atmosphere-wise, it is a bar foremost; about 7 or 8 tables, which filled up by 7:30 on a Friday night. I called ahead and they were happy to save a table for us. Service was prompt, helpful, and happy. I would say that this place would be great for families with grown children; college and post college crowd no problem. It might be a challenge for teens and younger -- because of the bar being a key part of the scene. Bamboo walls gave the place a McCale's Navy look...
We liked it a lot and will go back often!

thanks much for the tip.
I know they purport to be "Latin American/ Mexican/ etc", but it seems they have costa rican owners and likely, chefs, so>> itaunas et al- costa rican cuisine? isn't it mild like most central american cuisines? Just curious. I know it may not inform the food here, but i'm still curious.thanks much.
I haven't had a chance to really properly try the menu yet, but these folks catered a large lunch party at the restaurant a couple of weekends ago for an event I was involved in, and we couldn't have been happier with the results. They really bent over backwards for us, and were very easy to work with.
They're not normally open for lunch, but were more than willing to host our private function. They bought a keg of beer at our request to suit the tastes of our beer-snob crowd. The food (served in buffet style) was plentiful and tasty, the staff was cheerful under pressure (roughly 60 guests all at once!), and all in all it was a great experience. I look forward to trying them out "for real" soon.
