Hi guys.....I am going back to New York in less than 2 months and started looking at the restaurants I would like to try and since my hotel is located just next door to Per Se, it has been itching at me to try it. I would not try the tasting menu but would try their salon menu. Has anyone here tried it? What is the setting of the salon? Is it like a lounge area with a bar? Are you in the entrance of the restaurant seated in the doorway?

I would like to know if there are special things on that menu not to miss. I went on their website and saw that the service is included. Do they still except that you give a tip on top of the bill?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

No, they do not expect an additional tip. But if you want to give one, you certainly may.

The salon is indeed like a lounge area with a (small) bar, and you walk through it to get to the dining room. You are not seated in the doorway; it would be hard for people to get in and out, if you were. The tables are well-spaced, and the view is lovely.

My one meal at Per Se was in the salon, and it was excellent. But it was also more than a year ago, so I can't give you any recommendations for the current menu.
