Rose's Cafe on Gerrard and Broadview is moving

Thought I would post this. Rose's Cafe (one of my fave Toronto cheap eat spots) is closing in the next few days.
In 1 month, they'll be moving onto Gerrard (601 Gerrard, I believe, beside the lobster store).
hope i'm not the only one who will be jonsing for a meatball sub for the next month.
Thanks for the info! I would have felt sick had I gone there to find them closed!
I was already mourning the loss of the bakery that was a few doors north on Broadview. They had great coconut tarts but they seemed to have closed recently.
I'll miss this space though. It's so comforting.
Yeah, Phoenix is 3 storefronts or so down from Rose's new location. Guessing that everyone's moving off the Broadview part of that street due to rent issues.
Phoenix now also offers a buffet lunch that looks insanely cheap. I eyed whole shrimp (w/heads on) and whole breaded and fried fish (I don't eat fish, but they looked like little piranhas!)
Thanks for the heads-up on Rose's, atomeyes. I was driving up Broadview two days ago and stopped, planning to get a banh mi at Rose's. On a whim, however, I went into the bakery on the east side, slightly north of Rose's because it was advertising dim sum. What a mistake. I bought 2 char siu bow (sp?) and an order of sticky rice. The steamed buns were actually tough, and the rice had a slightly 'sour' smell, even though it was warm. I have a 'stomach of steel', so proceeded to eat some of the rice and part of the buns. Mistake.
The biggest mistake, however, was not going into Rose's. Now I'll have to wait longer. By the way, I'll never go back to that other bakery, for obvious reasons.
Thanks for the info. I recently found out my west end go to spot for bahn mi no longer serves food and to think I'd lost this place as well. Now I know to look around the corner.
I was getting off the bus going to Pacific Mall today and oddly enough I see Rose also getting off. So I asked her, when the new location would be open. She told me that it was initially slated to open for Canada Day but due to delays constructing the store they will be opening the following Friday On July 8th.
Tried their "Delux / Special" sandwich today from the new location and it was meh. Fresh made, but bun was just OK (a little stale), "meats" and pickle were so-so. Overall, a great value at $2.50, but I wouldn't go out of my way for one.
Man how I wish I could find a Toronto version of Nicky's (NYC)...
