Looking for a restaurant with a "Florida" feel. Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood

I have a buddy coming down from NJ and want to give him a taste of Florida by taking him somewhere with a tropical vibe to it. Something that isn't a chain. Looking for something moderately priced. Could be by the beach. Could be seafood. Looking to stay in the FTL/Hollywood area.

Thank you

I would second Le Tub, and add Tark's.

      Le Tub
      1100 N Ocean Dr, Hollywood, FL 33019

    2. Each of these places are very different from each other but all are very "Florida". I've arranged them by price and find the food at each one ranges from great to OK. - Famous for their hearts of palm salads. - Gracious service and super fresh seafood. - The fried shrimp are great and the atmosphere is pure Florida "Cracker".

      1. Coconuts on A1A is great deck dining overlooking the intra-coastal.

        1. I'll second Coconuts and also add Calypso and Sugar Reef. They are all very tropical. Also the Taco Shack (new on Hollywood Beach) is very inexpensive, good and fun. They have live music and it's a half a block to Hollywood Beach.

          Sugar Reef
          600 N Surf Rd, Hollywood, FL 33019

Where is the Taco Shack on Hollywood Beach?

Maybe not the exact name, but right in front of the old Hollywood Beach Hotel.

                334 Arizona Street, Hollywood, FL (954) 920-6523
                1 block N of Hollywood and A1A

Good tacos, the grilled fish is my favorite. Massive beers, including Sierra Nevada for cheap! The corn on the cob is also great.

It's definitely a welcome addition to Hollywood!

I liked the tacos (and the corn), but found the music to be loud and obnoxious. Sure, steel pan is tropical, but at a Mexican restaurant?

I ate at Coconuts a couple of weekends ago. The ceviche is pretty good and the deck overlooking the Intracoastal is pretty cool with boats coming in and dropping people off. The blackened mahi sandwiches looked great. They serve a few select Boylan soft drinks.

                2. The Rustic Inn near Griffin Road. Old-school crab and seafood house. Been there forever.
