THE GRILL ROOM? Good, bad or just ugly.

Hi Hounds..I thinking of taking some out of town guests to the GRILL ROOM, World Financial Center, for dinner. I thought they might like the view. Is the food good? Service decent? How is the cab availability after work hours? One friend is disabled and can't walk for a cab. Thanks.

  1. Well, it's certainly not ugly. The food is servicable, middle of the road, non-destination, non-Hound fare. Raw bar, grilled fish, some pastas, steaks and burgers. Most of the crowd is from Nomura, Cadwalader, Goldman, so the service is efficient. It's so business-oriented they're not open at all on the weekends. Your friends might have more fun with essentially the same view downstairs, outdoors on a nice summer night or day, at Southwest, with their extensive selection of margaritas. You can usually get a cab outside Gateway Plaza, which is about a quarter of a block away from the southern WFC exit. Menu below:

    1. I went there, once, in 2005 and would agree with the review, below. It was fine - lovely view, relatively quiet, food was mediocre. If you're looking for something that has cab availability and is ADA-friendly, why not do PJ Clarke's on the Hudson?

Agree with Andy assessment. They will not be dissapointed but not wowed. I usually agree with LB but PJ Clarks is terrible. The only decent thing is the burger or a salad.
SHO is down there are a few steakhouses in the area.
