Local sources for hog casings?
Hey folks, any suggestions on where I might be able to buy some hog casings for sausage locally? I tried Savenors at one point but wound up with a very weird product that was nothing like the sausage casings I'm used to dealing with. I know about mailorder sources, just wondering if I can pick some up locally. Many thanks!

I have very occasionally spotted them at various Stop and Shops and Market Baskets. I would suggest calling a local branch and asking them if they have any. Also, you might asking your local WF if they would sell you some. At least at some point in the past they used to make sausages in-store.

In my experience picking some up a few weeks ago, Whole Foods doesn't usually sell them outright, but depending on who is behind the counter and how much you need they may wrap some up for you at the per pound price of their sausage, or just give you some if you are buying pork butt or what have you at the same time.
