Hi San Diego Chowhounds! I'll be in San Diego for breakfast and dinner on Saturday. Where is a medium price to get healthy fresh fish and/or low cholesterol meals in SD area. Thanks

  1. Where will you be located in SD, it's a large geographical area; cabs are plentifil but not especially cheap. Tender Greens in Liberty Station comes to mind or possobly Spread in Nort Park.

      Good call DD..
      Tender Greens or Spread..
I would add the sushi bar at the Fish Market downtown..maybe Greek like a Cafe Athena in PB.

    2. Blue Water grill on India St. is probably your best bet, as they'll prepare simple grilled fish, accompanied with rice and salad.

Spread, mentioned above, is a good vegetarian restaurant, but I don't think their food would qualify as low cholesterol due to their heavy use of nuts and dairy products.

      1. Thank you so much. I will have a car. I am staying near QualCom Stadium. I appreciate all your suggestions. This is great!

        1. Is there any place that is medium price and uses fresh local produce? There must be great produce in the area :)

I would recommend The Fishery, in Pacific Beach. The meals vary as to price and health consciousness, but I'm sure the chef would accommodate requests for vegetable substitutions or toning down the butter/oil. Most fish is local and line caught and there is a good focus on seasonal, local produce.

            2. For a great reasonable lunch, check out El Pescador in La Jolla, on Pearl St, for an excellent grilled fish sammy.
