any morel mushrooms showing up?

I have been to some farmers markets but have not seen them yet.
I have been mostly to the east bay markets-anyone know of any markets near So. San Francisco that has them?

  1. Berkeley Bowl has had them for weeks. And I have had a couple of bags of locally picked ones lately.

    1. Have you tried these guys at the Ferry Bldg? Def. not So. SF but they may be able to steer you.

They had them on Saturday and they were in good shape and not too dried out, for $36/lb. I bought about 1/3 of a pound to add to a springtime vegetable saute of favas, spring onions and English peas.

        2. Monterey Market had some a couple weeks ago. I know some people from the Mushroom Society of SF had a morel foray last weekend, but there weren't too many to be had. Maybe the rain this weekend will help.

MM didn't have any on Thursday and, in general, their mushroom selection is good.

          2. There were lots of huge ones in great shape at the Berkeley Bowl West yesterday. Biggest I've ever seen.

Yes. They have had great big clean ones for at least 2 weeks now.
