Rehearsal Dinner in Queens

queenseats May 10, 2011 07:22 AM

Hi all -- I'm looking for recommendations for a rehearsal dinner in Queens for a Friday night in November. It will be between 15-20 people and we cannot spend more than $50 per person (including tax/tip). Only about half of the group are drinkers. We'd like a spot close to public transportation as some of our guests do not drive. Would like to stick to "safe" cuisines -- e.g., American, Italian, etc. for my Midwestern in-laws :) I'd really like a restaurant where we could have a private area sectioned off (difficult to do at some of my favorite spots on a Friday night). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Telly's Taverna or Stamatis are right off the N Train in Astoria.... So is L'Incontro..
Don't understand post about Dee's above as you need to transfer to a bus.....
A place that is never mentioned on CH is Dazie's in Sunnyside. Two stops from Manhattan , Solid Northern Italian. Ask for Ray when you call......
Queens is a very large area.. What neighborhood are you looking at??

      Telly's Taverna
      28-13 23rd Ave, Queens, NY 11105

      29-09 23rd Ave, Queens, NY 11105

Thanks for the recs! We're based in Astoria, but willing to travel around Queens, so long as it's accessible by subway. I'm leaning toward Zenon in Astoria, because they have a great meze deal. Not a fan of either Stamatis or L'Incontro. I don't want to stress about sticking to the budget, which I think would happen at some of the above recs (Alberto's, Parkside), though I enjoy the food at both. I'm going to check out Dazie's. Thanks all for the ideas!

Alberto's in Forest Hills might work..been to several parties there, always good service and good food--not sure about the price point...but I would imagine they would work with you..it's on metropolitan so subway to bus would be necessary----but easily doable--Parkside in Corona might work, however on their website, the prices they have for parties seems too high for your price point and they don't seem to have this option available on weekends..also, atmosphere at Corona is a bit over the top--(to put it kindly)...Alberto's is more classy and laid back, and quieter for conversation..
