Funky casual lunch in Santa Cruz

I need ideas for an apres-mountain bike lunch. it might be after 2 on a friday. Don't want anything fancy. If it were close to Penney ice cream, that would be a plus. thanks!

Kelly's is a great suggestion and they also have an ice cream option. If you really want to be in close proximity to the Penney Ice Creamery you could check out Betty's Eat Inn, which recently opened on Pacific Ave. They serve burgers, salads, sandwiches, etc. all day and are about a block or two away from the PIC.

thanks guys! my husband really likes croque can't -spell-it grilled cheese. How is their's at Kelly's?

Everything I've had at Kelly's has been good, but I haven't tried the croques . . . their apple slipper pastry is delicious - not too sweet.
I'll have to check out Betty's - haven't been yet.
You might also see about Hula's which has great hamburgers and a whole lot of other stuff. You'll have to search out hours of places though - not sure of the hours at Hula's for lunch at 2.

Check out Kelly's French Bakery on Swift and Ingalls for lunch. Lots of outdoor tables, lots of bike people stop there, great food!
