group dinner downtown

Hi! I'm from Montreal and I'm coming to Toronto for a conference and need to organize a group dinner for 15 people. As a whole the group likes good food and isn't too interested in trying things that are unique or different. Type of food isn't important (my boss said "Chinese or Italian or whatever") but I think they want a nice atmosphere that isn't too loud so that people can catch up easily. As for budget, I think under $60 per person would be ideal. Any thoughts or directions to other threads? Thanks!!!

Do you have a specific area you'd like to be in?

The conference is in the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel... I'm not sure where that is, but somewhere close to that would probably be nice (I think 2 people have cars so we're also a bit mobile). Thanks!

In that area or within a short walk or taxi drive there are many options in your price point.

        Some places to consier:

Less than 10 mins north on Bay to Elm is Adega. Nice space, tasty fish and seafood Portuguese/Mediterranean resto. They also have a private room if that interests you.

About a 10 mins walk south and slight west is Tutti Matti. Great Italian food in a pretty simple yet nice room.

For good comfort food the Gabardine on Bay at Richmond is less than a five min walk from your location. It is small, casual with good what I would call comfort food.

Again less than a five min walk is Vertical on King street. If the weather is warm they have a nice patio and while it is a rather corporate feeling place, I've always enjoyed my meals and they have a wide selection of food sure to please a group.

It gets mixed reviews on this board, but I enjoyed my meal at Nota Bene which is right by the Sheraton Centre. Pretty unadventurous food but very well done and a very business-friendly environment. Good volume, nice vibe.

Nota Bene might sound it, but its not Italian.

Can you do $60 pp at Nota Bene? I didn't think that was possible so I didn't put it forward as an idea. I would say you'd be closer to about $75 pp there.

That is exactly what I was thinking. I like Nota Bene but it may stray over the line for 60 pp.
