5th Wedding Annivesary Dinner in Kalamazoo

My husband and I will be back in my hometown of Kalamazoo for our 5th wedding anniversary (we live in NYC). Seems like most of the related posts here are from a few years ago, so thought I'd put out a new call for suggestions of great places to go in good ol' Kzoo. Right now I'm thinking either London Grill/Singapore, Cosmos or Rustica... what dya say?

HOpefully this response isn't too late. Did all the Kalamazoo Chowhounds move away? I moved away last year myself, but at the time of our departure, London Grill was still a rock-solid choice. Cosmos can be hit or miss, in my opinion, but I know folks who love it. I only ate at Rustica once and it was VERY good, albeit on the pricey side. Martini's is always great, but it can be kind of loud and chaotic if you're looking for a nice quiet romantic dinner. Food Dance is also back on slam. The really good chef came back--at least he was back last year. Another danged tasty and different place in town is Zooroona, opened by the same brothers who run Tiffany's and opened Rustica. Zooroona focuses on higher-end middle eastern fare and it's been really good any time I've tried it. Honestly? I still daydream about their herbed/spiced rice sometimes. Saffron in the same strip mall as Tiffany's and Zooroona is also really good Indian grub.

Thank you! This is helpful. I love Food Dance but felt like they were kinda coasting there for a while... good to hear it's back. Even if we don't go for dinner that night, I will definitely go there at some point during our trip! I'm thinking either London Grill of Rustica... thanks again!

I had felt the same way about Food Dance! I got really irate with them for a while because of it..I can't really justify paying the price if the food isn't gonna floor me. Last few times we went, they were back in top form--hopefully that's still true. ;) Awww, now you have me feeling all sentimental for London Grill!

Glad to hear that about Food Dance! I used to love going there and when my daughter started school in Kalamazoo I took her there and we were all unimpressed, she had gone a few more times with the same reaction. They sent a flyer that they will be open the Sunday of her graduation but she did not want her special dinner to be there.

For a romantic dinner I have to say that Rustica has much better ambiance than Food Dance. We celebrated my boyfriend's 30th birthday there Wednesday night and it was lovely. They have an extensive wine list and small dining room which made the entire experience feel like we were in a European city.
