Restaurant Choice After White Sox Game

We (group of 6 out of towners) will be attending a White Sox game on Friday, May 20th. We would like to have an upscale Chicago dinner experience after the game but it won´t be until 10:00pm before we can make it to a restaurant. Should we have dinner close to the stadium or should we head back downtown to where our hotel is located? Any suggestions? I have been reading the boards and thought Merat de la Planxa would be a nice choice but we may have some carnivores that may prefer a good steak. Help please...

That's correct; there's nothing in the vicinity of the stadium that I would recommend. There are some other places in the general neighborhood but they're far enough that you're better off going back to the area around your hotel.

Also, that game (I'll be there too) has a 7:10 start, so if you stay for the entire game, it's likely to end between 10:00 and 10:30. By the time you get back to the area of your hotel, you're probably going to need a place where you can be seated at 11:00. Here are a bunch of good places in the area around the hotels (River North, Mag Mile, Loop) that seat people as late as 11:00 on Fridays.:

check open table, i think there are a lot of places that would still be serving dinner at 10pm, including steakhouses, if that's what you're interested in.

I don't think there are too many options near U.S. Cellular Field that would qualify as 'upscale'. Your best bet is to head back downtown, though 10pm might wind up being a little late for some restaurants. I mean, I think that will likely be a determining factor more than anything else. You might take a look at Sable (River North) or The Gage (Loop) - they will be open until at least 11pm and are solid choices for dinner.
