Breakfast in Charlottte

Jeff C. May 9, 2011 03:56 PM

Will be staying in the South Park area of Charlotte this week and am looking for a fresh, fun place to do breakfast, preferably one that does its own baking. Good coffee is also a must.

No thoughts, Charlotte Hounds? Or is South Park a crappy area for breakfast/brunch?

Terrace Cafe has some great breakfast/brunch and is located right there is SouthPark (in Piedmont Row).

Thank you. Nice to see a fellow Archers of Loaf fan on here, too!

Original Pancake House is one that I've enjoyed. It's over on Sharon Rd.

Original Pancake House has great coffee and good food. It is a chain but a quality chain. If you go, make sure to order the french press coffee, it is worth the extra $$$.

Definitely will go for that upgrade next time I'm there. Thanks for the tip.

Cafe Monte does breakfast but doesn't open until 9am so depending on how early you want to eat it might not be an option.

Where is Cafe Monte? Are they open on Sunday?

Ended up going with the Terrace Cafe. It's a nice, well-run place with excellent service. Good coffee and juice. A bit pricey for breakfast ($8-$12) but good portions and fresh ingredients. Had the Fried Green Tomato Benedict in some kind of roasted red pepper sauce. Very good, though the sauce was a bit bland (could've used a pinch of cayenne). The space is kind of loud and cavernous, so I'm not sure about dinner, but for lunch or breakfast ,it's a fine choice. We will be back.
