  • 7

The Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream store on Dempster in Skokie is going kosher crc tommorrow. Let's hope they have better luck than all of the previous owners.

  1. It is reopening - that is great news - it is phenomenal ice cream -

    1. Really? Where are the located? Do they have other items in addition to ice cream? Will EVERYTHING there be kosher, or do you have to ask for a list?

It's at 4041 Dempster; just West of Crawford on the South side of the street. It's been there a while and the Chocolate Shoppe ice cream has long been certified but the shop itself was not. It now appears that the CRC has certified the establishment (no idea if it's the same owner as before).

(There is another Chocolate Shoppe franchisee on Devon near Central. The place is not certified but the individual ice creams bear CRC certifications (most flavors)).

      2. I'm hoping to try this tomorrow; has anyone been? What is good? Do they have soft-serve?

If it is like the previous incarnation yes they do have soft serve but the Chocolate Shoppe Ice Cream is what to get - my favorites are Fat Elvis - Banana Ice Cream with chocolate and peanut butter and Lemon Meringue but any of the ice cream I have had there is fantastic - check out their web site - http://www.chocolateshoppeicecream.com/

Pay close attention to their nutrional information -

Went today and it was excellent - the place is clean and inviting and the ice cream is excellent!

Owner told me they will be offering discounts on pre-ordered cakes and pies for Shabous

Sadly they don't have soft-serve but I thought it was very good too. They even have some parve sorbet options.
