Home Cooking in Santorini

We have rented a house in Oia for the week in mid-May. There are some great reviews of restaurants already posted on the Europe board, which are helpful. However, I am looking forward to cooking a few Greek meals at the home - things that are easy and made with fresh local ingredients.

Any suggestions on food markets we should visit?
Specific dishes we should prepare?
Ingredients we should definitely try?
Any cookbooks I might want to check out in advance?

Hello! It will be easy for you to find markets around Oia with food- and you can ask people at the shops, they would be helpful. :)

The main ingredients to cook with in Santorini are sun dried tomatoes, any tomatoes really, yellow split-peas, capers, and white eggplant.
I'm sure if you google Santorini recipes, or Greek recipes with those ingredients you will find lots!
You could make fava, pasta with sun dried tomato-caper sauce, etc...:)
