Detroit Eastern Market

I am in the area next Saturday (too bad not Sunday when it is the flower day). Anyone been yet? Are they selling any fruits and veggies?

I work right around the corner from Eastern Market. If you are in the mood for excellent soups or sandwiches (the corned beef is superior), try Russell Street Deli. I've heard many people rave about their weekend breakfasts, but I have never had one myself.

Always! You'll find a vast array of produce, breads, cheeses, artisanal food products --- bet you'll find the just coming in MI asparagus.

Hoping to go and get some lunch (maybe pizza) around there. Any italian purveyors in the area? We like Nino Salvaggio but will be far from there.

Supino's is very good pizza. It is right there on the left as you enter the Market area. Trying to get a seat though is a lesson in futility. http://www.supinopizza.com/

Also very acceptable....right off of Woodward.

If you want to go for a wee bit of a drive you can find a hidden gem.

If you end up at Andiamo's....you loose all cred.

Some how I have a feeling this post is going to upset someone at ABC and I will have yet another post deleted.

The Market is pretty big, go early to get the good stuff. The restaurants right around the market are good -- decent, hearty breakfasts. You won't go wrong strolling into one. For pizza, ditto the Supinos.
