So where does a solo diner go and have a great meal at the bar?

I had a decent meal at Trinity in Keyport. Their aspirations seemed higher than their ability, but it's certainly an interesting place. And they have a cocktail program, which is an exceptional aspect on its own, and executed rather well here.

sockster - While it obviously depends on what you consider to be a "great meal", I've enjoyed exceptional meals at Bar N at Nicholas.

"a cocktail program?" I assume this means the bar serves cocktails? That's a concept. Separates them from the bars that only offer a "beer program."

I was taking the cocktail program to mean a rewards program? As in, "Buy 7th cocktails and the 8th one's free!" Lol. I guess I was wrong? I gotta say, I was getting excited about it, too!

Like others, I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "great meal" at a bar. I haven't been to Trinity since ChefMD left, so I won't speak to that suggestion. It's a cool space though.
In that general vicinity, however, my favorite bar to eat at is Val's in Rumson. Bar food, but if I'm looking for that type of fix, that's where I'll head. Lobster pizza, burgers on an English muffin, . . . .

When did the chef leave Trinity?

He is now Exec. Chef @ ABG in South Seaside park.

Never heard of this place. Quickly reading about it, it looks like something the area could really use. I hope he's doing good work there, and not just feeding the masses. The cocktail program appears much weaker than that of Trinity, which is a shame.
