Sushi X in Ridgewood
Has anyone been to Sushi X in Ridgewood? All you can eat sushi. Thinking of trying it tonight but a little afraid :o)
I went there once, about 9 months ago, a few weeks after they opened. I enjoyed it very much. The sushi was very good and made fresh, and the hot foods were also good, although the portions on the hot foods were a bit small. (The sushi portions were reasonable.) The staff was courteous and attentive. It's a bit dark, but nice inside. I'll get back there, I just haven't had the time.
I am not certain that Sushi X is all you can eat anymore. I recall seeing a sign in the woindow that as of a certain date, thery were discontinuing their all you could eat policy. I've been there quite a few times, and the quality has gone downhill. We ate there about 6 weeks ago at lunch- the fish tasted stale. It was not spoiled, but it just wasn't fresh. We've crossed this restaurant off our list. I'd much rather eat at Sakura Bana, just down the street, and around the corner!
I haven't been there in many months. The first two times I went there, it was good. I would not put it anywhere in the same class as Masago (around the corner), but for all-you-can-eat, and priced where it was, it was certainly good. The fish tasted good -- fresh, flavor, and so on.
BYO, with a liquor store across the street. Service was OK. We sat in the front, so we had to wait a bit for a server. But it was OK. Two of the three of us had the AYCE option on sushi. The fourth ordered on his own. Nothing much different the second time I went. Three other friends wanted to go and had never been there, so I went.
I do not know any recent developments or changes.
I have had the same experiences as others. It was really good in the begining and while it is still ok it is not as good as the 1st few times I was there.
It is great that it is all you can eat for such a low price.
