Syrian/ Surinaamese
Hey hounders,
Two little questions:
1. Has anyone tried Kazamaza (Syrian) on Avenue du Parc? If so, what was your impression?
2. Are these any Surinaamese restos on the island?
Thanks for any feedback.

Try looking at this thread, all about Kaza Maza: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/696179
It's been a few months since it was last updated, but you'll see that while the food remains good there have been some grumblings about the service. For Syrian, also try Le Petit Alep on Jean Talon (like Damas, Le Alep is the more formal option by the same owners). No reservations at Le Petit Alep and the food is, in my opinion, more or less equal in quality to that of Kaza Maza.

1- I went only once to Kaza Maza and it was good'n'tasty; they have their "upper scale" syrian restaurant "Damas" at bit up the street on Parc Ave.
2- don't know about that.

re: Auguste Gusteau
I think the closest you're going to get in Montreal is Guyanese which shares a few dishes with Surinamese cuisine.
Caraïbe Delite and Jardin du Cari are the two that I know of.
Caraïbe Delite
4816, Av Du Parc
(514) 274-4509 Le Jardin Du Cari
