Inspired by Michael Turner's anthology and the "le pen now and again" blog,we're going to hike the Kingsway tomorrow. Would love to hear any suggestions for short stops along the way. Prefer to eat a dozen little unique snacks at different places more than full meals. Thanks for your help!

That would be Tung Hing for Banh Mi. Definitely would be good to see a recent comparison between the two.

Grab some deep fried lotus root and pork 'burgers' at Nine Dishes.

House of Dosa is near Kingsway and Knight.

You might want to check out Famous Foods (1595 Kingsway). It's a grocery store, not a cafe, but it has ready-to-eat foods at its bakery and is well worth browsing as it has just about anything a foodie could want plus organic foods and health foods. Generally if I need something and can't find it in the lower mainland Famous Foods will have it. It doesn't look like much, but if ever you couldn't judge a book by its cover...
