Anniversary Ideas - Boston/Brookline/Cambridge/Somerville
I need restaurant suggestions for my partner & I's anniversary on Saturday. Yes, that also means I need a place I can get a reservation at on Saturday as well (I'm a procrasinator).
I was thinking about Craigie on Main & their 10-course tasting menu, but they're totally booked Saturday. Then I thought maybe we'd finally get to try Hungry Mother but they're also totally booked Saturday too.
Anyone have any ideas? To give you some idea: we like to eat good food but we're not pretentious about it and we like places with low-key or laid-back sensibilities. For example, we prefer our Blue Room brunches over the meals we've had at L'Espalier if that makes sense. Farm-to-table is great, but not a requirement (obviously). Oleana would definitely have been on the table but I'm eating there on Friday night with work associate so I don't want to do it back-to-back, though I would (I'm a fan of the place).
We live in Cambridge but can travel to Boston and surrounding environs. We're both T-accessible and have a car.
Ideas? What about Dante (I've heard good things)? Embarrassingly, after 3 years of living in Cambridge we've never been to Rialto or Harvest.....is one better than the other? Also, a friend suggested Lineage in Brookline - I've walked by it but never eaten there. Thoughts?

well, this is a little late, but in my opinion Rialto is way over-rated. I like their clam appetizer, when forced to go there for a work-related thing, but otherwise I avoid it. Ditto L'Espalier, we went there once to test it and it was so dull.
And there is so much better: East by Northeast, Journeyman, TW Food. Also, Hungry Mother, Bondir, Craigie on main. If you want to splurge, the ultimate (and amazing) restaurant is Oya.

There's been a lot of love for Lineage on CH lately... personally it's one of my favorites. It's pretty low-key, and right in Coolidge Corner so it would be both easy to get to and great for a stroll afterwards.
