drink near Fox Theater-Detroit

Hola. Any suggestions on where to get a nice cocktail near the Fox Theater? Gracias!

Today's NY Times has a "36 Hours in Detroit" story which mentions Cliff Bell's among other destinations

Nice to see a story about Detroit that doesn't harp on the negatives!

I agree coney -- very refreshing and a good story and suggestions to boot!

Yeah, sometimes we don't pay attention to the things in our own city that are good. Nice to get the outside perspective and remind us that we do have the DIA et.al.

Thanks for the replies. I was going to mention to nix Hockeytown but I thought that would be a given! Please!!! Thanks Quit2 Chef. Centauer sounds great! I looked at their website and noticed their martini menu. Very impressive if you like those kind of martini's. I like a classic, just top shelf gin(Tanquerrey my choice)and some olives and very cold. Hopefully I can get that!

JP, we are going to Cliff Bells for dinner after the show. Excited about that!

They can definitely hook you up with that there. My friend loves their straight up martini's. I think they might even have Bleu cheese stuffed olives.

Centaur is good, Cliff Bells can be fun too, and you will loose all respect of the board and the greater Food lovers world if you end up at Hockeytown Cafe. That is all.

I third Centaur , but if you feel like a beer or two I'd toss out a visit to Town Pump.

I *demand* an exception to this statement, JP! What if you go to Hockeytown Cafe simply to play the pinball machine in the basement? What then? ;)

But for food or drink? No...

If the Pinball Machines are owned by a third party...I approve. :)

The pinball machine is, yes...but HC does get a share of the earnings.
