First Cinco de Mayo in NYC. Where should we go?

We moved to NYC from SF a few weeks ago and will be celebrating our first Cinco de Mayo in the city. We are looking for a fun place with great drinks, nice vibe and some good food near Canal & Varvick St (Tribeca I guess?) or in Midtown.

If there's somewhere else we should travel in Manhattan for the best experience, we are ready to so. Would love some suggestions on how we can make this Cinco de Mayo as much fun as those we had in SF!

how about Dos Caminos, there's one in midtown and in soho, also the general area around NYU would be good too.

If you want to stay downtown, you could have a fun, upscale dinner at La Esquina or Papatzul. The Village is a better option than Midtown imho, with places like Hecho en Dumbo, Mercadito and the new Empellon. If you want some rustic southern Meixcan cuisine, though, I would head up to Spanish Harlem and pay a visit to Cafe Ollin, one of my favorite restaurants in a heavily Mexican neighborhood.
