Hi all, I'm helping plan my sister's bridal shower/bachelorette party for the weekend of May 21st, and I'd love some recommendations for dinner spots - I live out of town, but I'm the foodie in the group, so I volunteered to handle the dinner ressie. There will be 14 of us, and we're on a budget - entrees under $15 dollars, please, preferably under $12. Any ideas? Can we get a good meal for that? I'm open to any kind of cuisine, but I'd say she's partial to Italian, gastropub or standard American menus. Thanks so much!!

Accurso's is good, but maybe too high? http://www.accursos.com/

I hate to mention a chain, but for a group that size with limited budget you might try Buca di Beppo? http://www.bucadibeppo.com/menu/index...

For a gastropub, I like Beer Kitchen: http://beerkitchenkc.com/

I have to agree with the Accurso's req, but if your group is a fun loving, sort of crazy, has a sense of humor about the Italian joint you eat in... and I'm going to get hammered for even suggesting this by the other Hounds... you might be in the mood for Anthony's Restaurant and Lounge (701 Grand Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64106 (816) 221-4088). The decor is well... probably done by whatever fell off the back of the truck that day... but that being said... who doesn't look good in pink lighting? The food is 70's Italian and the sauce has that sweet taste that used to be popular back when I was a kid and didn't know better... but overall it's decent and in your price range. Check out the web site www.kcanthonysongrand.com/ and see for yourself. If you have a room at a hotel big enough and you're up for some good Italian takeout... drive to 103rd and Stateline and visit Marco Polo's Italian Market (1201 W 103rd St, Kansas City, MO 64114 (816) 941-6600). Get some pizzas, subs, salads, a Tuscan grilled chicken or two and have a feast on the cheap. Oh... and Berbiglia Wines and Spirits is right across the street for the vino. Marco Polo's is a part of Jasper's Restaurant hence the odd web address (www.jasperskc.com).

If Italian includes pizza, I'd consider Pizza Bella, BUT you'd want to call and be sure they can accommodate a party your size. The restaurant isn't that large, but they might save a table for you. Most of the pies range from $10-14, and serve two women easily. With a wood fired oven, it's the best pizza in town, IMO, but the menu is fairly limited otherwise: http://www.pizzabellakc.com/

Beer Kitchen is a good rec, as is Blanc Burgers and Bottles, but at both places it will be fairly easy to go above your per person limit. Extra Virgin has a couple rooms for private dining, but you might want to call to be sure they'd fit a party your size. Take a look at the menu, too, as it might be easy to go above limit there too, though worth it! http://www.extravirginkc.com/
