French Macaroons/Macarons - How long will they stay fresh?
Hi, I'm really pressed for time this week and I want to grab my Mother's day gifts early. I was thinking of getting Macarons at the local patisserie and wondered if I bought them Thursday or Friday would they still be fresh on Sunday? Anyone?
Some here in Paris are like bread, one day only. Do not know where you are, but the issue is not to refrigerate them as texture changes and does not come back to original, thus a few days is not a lot but not a little either. They may dry a bit and this will get them a bit chewier, which l actually like.
I'm with Deluca -- I don't think they'll make it. They start to go stale the minute they come out of the oven. (so I eat them as quickly as possible....)
The lifespan of a macaron is right up there with "how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?"
The world may never know.
(and expiration dates on Pepperidge Farm cookies. I do well to get HOME with them, let alone worry about whether they'll go stale or not.)
Macarons will last up to 5 days... so grab them Friday and you'll be good for Sunday. You can ask clerk at the patisserie to be sure.
Also, I believe some bakeries make the macarons a day in advance before they sell them so the flavors can fully develop.
Buy the Macarons Friday and you'll be good to go on Mother's Day.
