Whole Wheat Flour in Madrid

I'm wondering if someone (butterfly?) can point me in the right direction for finding whole wheat flour in bulk. I'd like to start baking my own bread, but not sure it's worth it if I have to pay nearly two euro for a teeny tiny little bag of flour. You'd think with all these bakeries around, there would be SOMEWHERE I can buy flour :) Thanks!

  1. Have you tried an herbolario? There's a big one near Atocha that has stuff in bulk (though I can't say for sure they sell whole wheat flour that way). It's called Salud Madrid (I think) and it's at Santa MarĂa de la Cabeza 3 (though there are herbolarios all over the place...) another one that sells stuff in bulk is Herbolario Viuda De Patricio Morando on Duque de Alba 15 in between the Tirso de Molina and La Latina stops--virtually everything they have is squirreled away in the little drawers, so you have to ask.

The bakery that I go to does some interesting rye and whole grain breads... maybe they would sell you flour in bulk: La Tahona (Humilladero, 11). The Museo del Pan Gallego might be another possibility (Plaza de Herradores, 9).
