Grad at 1130, airport 1500, lunch???

We will be at our son's graduation at GWU on the 15th. We have been told grad starts at 1130, however, we have to catch a taxi at 1500 to IAD for a flight home. Where can we get a nice lunch in the GWU area and make our flight?

1st off I would make a reservation ASAP since a lot of the restaurants in the area will book up fast for graduation season.

There are 3 really good choices near GWU: Blue Duck Tavern, Firefly, or Ris...you should have a lovely celebratory lunch at either. And the bonus is all 3 of these are located in hotels (or next to them) so finding a taxi to take you to the airport will be easy.

you should just be clear with your server that you have to be out of the restaurant by a certain time. At that hour, I think they expect people to lounge and "brunch"

The Sunday ceremony, University Commencement, takes place on the National Mall near the Capitol, not on the Foggy Bottom campus. Just thought I'd mention it in case this might change your plans.

I checked the grad info and it appears we will be finished at 1130-1200, not start at 1130. That obviously gives us more time for lunch.
