I live in DC and need to buy a few provisions at an Asian food store. Any suggestions?

I too live in DC with no car. I get a "granny cart" and take the red line to Wheaton, then the Y bus about 5-10 mins. north to get to H Mart. They have any Asian ingredient you want. It's a pain to get to, granted, but 3 or 4 trips a year and I'm set.

      H-Mart is awesome.

There's a great thai grocery store called Hung Phat Grocery (11315 Fern St
Silver Spring, MD 20902) in Wheaton next to Nava Thai, and it's walking distance from the metro. It's small but you can get a lot of staples and everything is very cheap. And Nava Thai's one of the best Thai restaurants in the area.
