HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 8

My husband and I are having a wedding celebration in only two weeks and my caterer bailed on us. The party is in Beacon NY (near Poughkeepsie) only 25ppl and a very small budget. To make it worse...I am a food snob and want more than just pasta and salad..more than ok with comfort food, just want it to be good. Any suggestions?

  1. I've heard that Aroma Osteria in Wappingers Falls is good. You're right across the river from Newburgh and Storm King, so you may want to look there, too. You may even want to give the Culinary Institute in Hyde Park a call and see if they have a list of faculty that cater.

I tried CIA but they only have students that "may" be able to cater on their own time. I will check out the above link though, thanks!

    2. Have you tried Shadows on the Hudson? Beautiful venue...

I think their packages start at $27 PP...

      1. check if twisted soul (pok) can do it, more possible if on a sunday. however, they've doing tons of jobs on the side, so they may already be booked.

ditto on twisted soul. their menu is great. i know that they're participating in the cupcake festival in gardiner on sunday, 5/15, though...

i would also suggest crumb in beacon (http://www.yelp.com/biz/crumb-beacon). they serve only baked goods, but the chef there used to be at babycakes cafe in poughkeepsie, which had a much more extensive menu. homespun foods (http://www.homespunfoods.com/) is another option in beacon.

since you are only serving 25 people and have a small budget, you might want to call smaller restaurants in beacon (like max's on main street or sukhothai) or fishkill (cibo, tanjore, toro, pamela's java hut, or the tomato cafe) and see if they can cater. they're probably a safer bet with the time crunch than some of the bigger restaurants.

          good luck!

          1. Talk to the people at Casa Mia on 9W in Highland, NY.. Excellent Italian food. Nice atmosphere and not pricey.
