Vibrant restaurant with delicous food

Need recommendation for a restaurant with a young vibrant energy with not too expensive delicious food for this Tuesday night. We went to the Meatball Shop and Momofuku Noodle Bar and loved them both. I am looking for somewhere with a similar vibe and quality. I was thinking maybe Stanton Social, The Breslin, or Buvette. Help!

  1. If you're willing to go to mid-town, I highly recommend Ma Peche (the most recent of the David Chang restaurants). Chef Tien Ho does amazing things! Just came back from lunch. Place was packed!

I went there for lunch today and loved it. The carrots and bone marrow stole the show. I prefer the atmosphere of Momofuku Noodle Bar though.

I second Kin Shop and Morini. I would also recommend Rubirosa. I like Perilla very much but do not see it as particularly "young and vibrant".

Agreed -- if you're comparing Perilla to Meatball Shop and Momofuku Noodle Bar, the age of the crowd at Perilla skews about 10 years older IMO.

Morini is definitely loud, crowded, vibrant, and the tables are very close together (like chair to chair) and the noise is pretty high (similar to Momofuku Noodle Bar).

Kin Shop and Perilla are quieter. Not quiet per se, but definitely not like Morini on a weekend night. Haven't been to Empellon or Griffou.

      2. I'd also look into Locanda Verde, Spotted Pig, The Dutch, Vandaag. Maybe Lupa?

Pulino's was pretty young and loud when I went last.

          1. Ippudo, despite having already been to a noodle shop.

Caracas, although it's more Meatball Shop than Breslin.

a place that never gets mentioned on Chowhound, but has served me well on several occasions is Yuca Bar on E. 7th. Tuesday is half-priced tapas, so it's a perfect time to try it. they do an excellent short rib dish and a great mixed grill that's perfect for sharing. the sangria is decent, too.
